The Malaysian outsourcing market is one that is steadily on the rise as the need for cost efficient and work ready laborers are growing in demand. This industry consists of employers looking to hiring locals within the country so that they can begin work as soon as possible. Outsourcing, whether in Malaysia or elsewhere, will mostly occur when a company needs to expand their efforts and increase the production rate substantially.

The outsourcing industry in this country seems to be frequented by people from nearly any different part of the world that you can think of; from Europe to the U.S., as well as many other nations are interested in seeing more of what kind of skilled professionals that Malaysia has to offer. There are a great variety of people that want to implement the services of a freelance or outsource worker such as larger companies that are rapidly growing, new companies that may need help with building a strong foundation for their blossoming businesses, individuals that do not have any resources and are stuck with more work than they can handle. The list goes on. As you can see the type of employers that have taken an interest for the Malaysian workforce is very diverse.

For many years, the industry here has been one to look out for. There are other countries and regions that offer a good competitive outlook on the outsourcing world, yet Malaysia seems to stand the test by not backing down and proving to be a worthy place to consider when you are seeking out people to help get an important job done. Taking that into account, one could expect the market there to literally skyrocket as the years go by within the near future.

Some of the things that a company will benefit from when adding a local person from this country to their efforts, are a drastic cut in time, less energy spent, more resources reserved and saved for a later time, and even more money saved – which I think most employers can all agree is a very good and desirable thing.

The many ways that businesses and employers can go about finding the perfect laborer in Malaysia to add to their company can include; directly contacting companies that offer outsourcing services (these companies typically act as the middle man between the employer and potential candidates for the job), visiting outsourcing websites that are available and full of work ready people that would be a great fit for your project, or even very few will plan to make a trip to the country so that they can get started. If you want to have an exceptional worker that can provide what you are looking for, then checking out the Malaysian outsourcing industry is something that you should really consider.

As the Head of Strategy in Mesiniaga Alliance Sdn Bhd (MASB), Bernard Sia manages the Strategy Unit and is responsible for strategic development in MASB, with special focus on corporate strategy, client acquisition, partner management, projects, research and development and outsourcing value elicitation for customers. He serves as an enabler for growth to help build MASB into a global powerhouse in strategic outsourcing. Prior to joining MASB, he was briefly the Technical Director for Maybank overseeing the technical pillar of a strategic nationwide project, as the initiative was unceremoniously terminated he soon found himself engaged in designing and contributing to the Enterprise Architecture for Maybank group wide. Prior to that Bernard earned his outsourcing salt with 6 years project management and software management experience with iPerintis servicing Petronas. He comes back full circle to outsourcing with Mesiniaga Alliances after a 2+ year hiatus on Enterprise Architecture and hopes to bridge the divide between Strategy and Outsourcing.

Bernard brings with him 13 years of experience stemming from software development across financial, logistic and supply chain verticals and project management experience in Disaster Recovery, Messaging Systems Migrations.

He is a proud graduate of a local university – UKM; and is currently pursuing his MBA dissertation on strategic outsourcing with the University of Nottingham. Hopefully, should work permits, be completed by 2012.
